Cardiovascular Manifestations of Primary Hypothyroidism

Introduction Hypothyroidism is clinical syndrome that results from decreased secretion of thyroid hormone gland. Primary accounts for 90-95% all cases hypothyroidism. has various cardiovascular manifestations. With aim early prevention and management manifestation in hypothyroidism this study was conducted. Materials Methods A cross sectional observational conducted Department Medicine Bir Hospital. Ethical clearance Institutional Review Board, National Academy Medical Sciences taken. total 70 patients with untreated were randomly selected without any prior known comorbidities or under medication. Data collected entered Microsoft Excel to tabulate data analyse results. Results Out enrolled participants, 41 subclinical 29 overt/clinical 80% female 20% male. Most common presenting symptoms peripheral odema (60%) followed by easy fatiguability (47.14%). Body Mass Index (BMI) Hypertension higher majority 70% 60% respectively. Dyslipidemia present 48.57% among which changes triglyceride cholesterol level. Abnormality ECG seen only 22.85% T wave abnormality (18.57%) being most sinus bradycardia (14.28%). Echocardiography abnormal 7.14% 2.86% showing pericardial effusion. Conclusion Cardiovascular manifestations primary especially High BMI, Dyslipidemia. Screening newly diagnosed thus should be done routinely patients.
